Who can report to the National Pharmacovigilance System (NPVS)?
 
Peripheral providers: public and private institutions with a well-known academic and/or clinical track record, among which are the provincial ministries of health, professionals associations, public and private hospitals, universities and health maintenance organizations. Updated listing of peripheral providers (PP). According to the type of participation, the various Peripheral Providers of the National Pharmacovigilance System are classified as follows:

AAn active PP is a provider that keeps contact with the Central Provider all throughout the year by sending at least 20 reports per year or three serious reports.
BA PP who newly enters the NPVS belongs to this category for one year. Also a PP not included in Category A.
CA Professionals Association who operates as an advisor to the NPVS.
DA PP who has been inactive for the last year.
Independent professionals are health care professionals (physicians, pharmacists, nurses, dentists, etc.) who belong to hospitals, clinics, private consulting rooms, private pharmacies, dental consulting rooms, etc., who detect adverse events and report them directly to the Pharmacovigilance Department, thereby, contributing to the enrichment of the national data base. Patients and patients´ relatives are those users of drug products who independently send their report to the Pharmacovigilance Department. Pharmaceutical industry: Under ANMAT Regulation 3870/99 and Regulation 2438/00, pharmaceutical companies are included in the NPVS and must report serious or unexpected adverse reactions of their products in a 10-day period of time. Non-serious and non-unexpected reactions must be periodically reported. It is worth mentioning that only events occurred in Argentina are to be reported.
