What is the National Pharmacovigilance System (NPVS)?

Under Resolution 706/93 the former Ministry of Health and Social Action created an official mechanism based on the spontaneous, voluntary and confidential reporting of suspected adverse reactions by professionals of health. Within ANMAT structure, the Pharmacovigilance Department reports to the Office of the Director of Drugs Evaluation and operates as the Central Provider of the National Pharmacovigilance System. The principal objective of the National Pharmacovigilance System is to detect, evaluate, understand and prevent adverse events and other drug-related problems.
